Shore Getaway Guide (The Record)

With summer just around that next turn of the calendar page, it's time to get ready for a trip to the Jersey Shore. So we've gathered information designed to make planning this year's visit (visits?) easier and more fun.

Can you believe its been ten years since Mario Kart made its debut? In 1997, Nintendo released Super Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo.

Eight characters from the popular Super Mario Brothers series are placed on go-karts. Unlike many of the typical racing games, Nintendo brilliantly integrated sneaky attacks on your racing competitors. I like how pairs of vehicles had different attributes so you could pick the style of driving that you wanted.

A few years later, Nintendo would follow up with Mario Kart 64 for the Nintendo 64. More powerful system and better graphics made for another successful title. This title would end up selling the 3rd best on the Nintendo 64 platform. Nintendo realized that had another successful Mario spin off. Nintendo had suceeded in the hand held game system market. The next Mario Kart game would be on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance system. Mario Kart Super Circuit is still a very popular game since it can played on both the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. Both handheld systems have the ability to allow players to play with multiple hand helds. The Game Boy Advance used cords to attach to each other. The Nintendo Ds uses wireless technology. The next installment would be Mario Kart Double Dash made for the Nintendo Game Cube. The option to play 4 players at the time was stupendous and the option to play the partner on the back of go-kart is sensational. As mentioned above, Nintendo Ds version came out and was named Mario Kart DS. Battle mode and the ability to play wireless is amazing. So what is going to be the next version of Mario Kart? Nintendo has developed Mario Kart Wii for the Nintendo Wii. This lastest game will revolutionize the way Mario Kart has ever played before.
